tales of three cities

project 2b: mapping the townscape

As a continuation of project 2a, this assignment studies a significant core of Kuala Lumpur, this time as a group. The aim is to coin our own theory for the city. The theory is concluded after the urban distinctive characters are identified. The significance and features of the area of Central Market and Petaling Street are scrutinized and illustrated, establishing a sensual perception of the city's collage of a variety of configuration and elements. Views and vistas of the site are studied based on Cullen's serial visions, adding information to the analysis of patterns between typologies of form.

final presentation

The urbanscape of Kuala Lumpur's older parts is indeed a colourful but chaotic mosaic of colours. People of all races and querries mill around and add to the city's diversity. The city is a delight for the uninitiated and uncustomed as many surprises could be found if one immerses deep into it.

Vast variety of elements such as makeshift bazaars, mushrooming stalls, heritage buildings, roar of vehicles, jostling crowds, the pulse and vibrant energy together with the city's diverse nature makes our site worth a visit for a captivating experience as it captures the essence of the original Kuala Lumpur itself that is distinct from other cities.
