project 1: auditorium: a case study on acoustic design

An auditorium is a special room built to enable an audience to hear and watch performances such as dramas and music orchestras. Apart from that, they can be used for lectures and speeches. Successfully designed auditoriums is reliant on its acoustic properties which includes its layout and materials used. Their designs basically preserve and enhance desired sounds and eliminate undesired sounds.

We conducted a case study on an auditorium in groups of eight and presented our findings about its materiality, history, sound source and sound path verbally.

Our case study is Bentley Auditorium near The Curve Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya:

Together, we were exposed to knowledge on auditorium design layouts and how they influence the effectiveness of the public address system in a particular hall by completing this assignment.
