project 1: skeletal construction

Grid shell and tensile construction methods are gaining popularity currently. These methods provide both aesthetic value and load bearing resistance required by a building. Technological advancement and innovation results in fascinating architecture as difficult forms and parametric design are made possible.

This assignment encouraged us to research on building components and its assembly as well as analyze the issues of strength, stability, forces and laws of static.

In groups of 3, we studied the Haesley Nine Bridges Golf Club in Yeoju, South Korea designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban.
